Marysville’s varsity volleyball squad upped its record to 5-6 on Tuesday by sweeping Westland. MHS won the match by scores of 25-23, 25-15, 25-18. The Lady Monarchs combined for 31 kills on the night and were led by Alyssa Codner with nine. According to Plain City Police Department reports: An officer responded to the area of East Main Street and South Chillicothe Street in reference to a non-injury crash at 9:49 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27. Upon arrival, the officer learned that Sean Donovan was traveling westbound on East Main Street in a blue Hyundai. Donovan’s vehicle struck the passenger side of a tan Ford Crown Victoria which was already in the southbound turn lane. Dear Editor, Marysville has a feral cat problem. This is not new information or even earth shattering, but the fact that our city leaders refuse to acknowledge and address the challenge is. After trying to deal with it for several years, I contacted the city two years ago and was told they didn’t know there were feral cats in Marysville. For several years, we have been advocating term limits for members of Congress. It has been the subject of debate for decades. Although there have been efforts to implement limits, they have all been unsuccessful. There have been some positive moves in this direction. The most important one was passage of the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution in 1951 that limits the nation’s President to two terms. Memorial Day is a rather somber, reflective holiday. It is a time to honor those who died while serving in the American Armed Forces. Organizations and individuals decorate the graves of deceased military service men and women with American Flags to commemorate their lives. Over the 200 years since Marysville was founded (and 199 since Union County’s beginning), many local soldiers have died in the various wars while serving their country. May’s senior of the month is Jacob Nicol. Jacob is the son of Marty and Amy Nicol of Marysville. He has been involved in Football, Basketball, National Honor Society and FFA. He is a member of Hickory Grove United Baptist Church and is employed at Scheiderer Farms Greenhouse. After graduation he plans to attend the University of Toledo and major in Nursing.
