The North Union softball team picked up its fourth win of the season with a 10-1 victory over Central Buckeye Conference opponent Graham on Wednesday. The Lady Cats worked out to an early 1-0 lead after the first inning and kept the bats energized. They scored eight runs through the first four innings. NU’s Laine Sparks took the circle to start the game and pitched 4.2 innings. She threw 91 pitches, striking out six Graham hitters. The Triad softball team is still on the hunt for its first win of the season after a 9-0 loss to Northeastern on Friday. Neither team could put runs on the scoreboard in the first inning. It didn’t take the Lady Jets long, though, to find their way through Triad pitching. The Jets tallied runs in the second-through-fifth frames against Triad pitchers Joni Russell and Morgan Alexander. Triad’s softball and baseball teams are still on the hunt for their first wins of the season. On Wednesday, the Lady Cardinals dropped an Ohio Heritage Conference game against Mechanicsburg 8-0, while the Cardinal baseball team fell 10-2 to Graham. The Lady Indians came out strong against Joni Russell, who was inside the circle for Triad.
