The NCAA’s Name, Image and Likeness legislation that was invoked within the past year allows collegiate athletes the opportunity to earn money. They are now permitted to capitalize on their name, image and likeness with sponsors to earn cash by appearing in such things as television commercials. High school athletes in Ohio may soon be able to do so as well. The Ohio High School Athletic Association has announced a proposal to allow high school athletes to profit from NIL. The inclement weather did not prevent Marysville High School’s girls and boys track and field teams from competing during a triangular meet at Hilliard Bradley. The host Jaguars won the girls meet with 67 points. The Lady Monarchs were second with 56 and Pickerington North tallied 42. Pickerington North captured top honors in the boys meet with 88 points. The Lady Panthers of Fairbanks slipped to 4-3 overall and 1-2 in the Ohio Heritage Conference. FHS dropped a 17-3 softball verdict in 4 ½ innings to Mechanicsburg. The Indians held a 5-3 lead after Fairbanks batted in the visitors’ portion of the fourth inning. Mechanicsburg blasted the Lady Panthers for 12 runs in the home half of the fourth.
