City workers spent this morning setting up for tonight’s Christmas festivities at Partners Park. Above, Chad Morris, left, and Scott Ferguson set up the platform Mayor J.R. Rausch will stand on tonight when he carries out the ceremonial lighting of the Christmas tree at 6 p.m. While the tree has been 18 feet tall in years past, this year’s stands at 30 feet tall. People will also be able to attend the Christmas Walk, which will take place 5 to 8 p.m. in the Uptown area. Union County Sheriff’s Deputies and Ohio State Highway Patrol Troopers responded to a crash on Honda Parkway in front of Ohio Ready Mix that sent two people to the hospital Wednesday at 10:49 a.m. A 2004 Hyundai driven by TreVon Cunningham, 21, of Columbus, going east on Honda Parkway struck a 2010 Ford F-350 driven by Wayne Oakley, 47, of Lewistown, as Oakley was pulling out of the Ohio Ready Mix facility. Both drivers received minor injuries and were transported to Memorial Hospital. Oakley was cited for failure to yield the right of way and Cunningham was cited for operating…

The City of Marysville finished repairs this week on an exposed water line on Mill Creek. The line serves as a major supply for the city, coming from Marysville’s well reserve. Had the pipe been significantly damaged, the city would have had to draw entirely from the reservoir until repairs could be completed. Liberty Township Fire and EMS officials stand near a chicken coop that caught fire on Perkins Road Thursday at about 1:30 p.m. The fire was contained within about 20 minutes. According to Liberty Township officials, the resident was working on his barn and noticed the flames. They could not comment on the cause of the fire as of press time. A pumpkin splashes into a water-filled bucket in the Navin Elementary parking lot after being dropped from a fire truck basket Monday afternoon. Navin Parent Teacher Organization President Betsy Fraker said the event was the culmination of a two-week fundraiser for United Way of Union County and Blessings in a Backpack. Each class made its own pumpkin, which Marysville Firefighters dropped from the truck’s basket.
