Cordle, Channell, Willis named Featured Seniors By Clarissa Hamilton Shannon Cordle is the daughter of Jeremiah Cordle and Heidi Burrey. Shannon is a 4-year letterman in soccer and track and the soccer team captain. She is a member of the National Honor Society and the National Spanish Honor Society, where she is the co-president. Community prepares for total solar eclipse The History and Science By Noah Rhea Solar eclipses have been fascinating humanity for centuries, and Fairbanks Schools are no exception. This month will highlight what Fairbanks is doing to honor this historic April event. This eclipse is a celestial event that occurs when the moon passes between the earth and sun, casting a shadow onto Earth’s surface. After a brief search beginning earlier this year, Fairbanks has found its new high school principal. At the March board of education meeting, school officials voted to confirm the recommendation of Jerry Obney as the new principal at Fairbanks High School. Superintendent Adham Schirg announced the position in a letter to the community last week but the vote Monday night made it official. A committee of 29 parents, students, staff and administrators was formed and looked at 14 individuals before three were selected for interviews, Schirg said. “The committee provided feedback and recommendations on the candidates,” he said. “Based on…

The Jonathan Alder Board of Education has a couple of months to review Plain City’s planned Economic Development Incentive Policy (EDIP) before the plan is put in place. Last month, 14 seniors from Jonathan Alder and London high schools started bringing home paychecks along with their report cards, thanks to a new ELITE program offered through Tolles Career and Technical Center. A parent in the North Union school district is urging administrators to take action after her daughter experienced several incidents of bullying and harassment. At Monday’s regular board of education meeting, Brandi Edwards asked the board to uphold the district’s mission and vision to “prepare, challenge and empower” by doing something about the incidents. “Today I am here due to the bullying and months of harassment my child has endured,” she said. “My daughter has been subject to a perpetrator that has violated 13 of the 28 code of conduct polices repeatedly and consistently since November of last year.” Both…

Last fall, Tolles Tech launched an innovative Cybersecurity program to help meet the increasing demand for cybersecurity workers in Ohio. Enrollment for the first year of the program was nearly at capacity.
