October Senior of the Month named October’s senior of the month is Abby Underhill. Abby is the daughter of Timothy and Angela Underhill of Plain City. During high school she has been involved in various clubs including FFA, FCCLA, Science Club, National Honor Society, and Mock Trial. The Jonathan Alder School Board got its first look Tuesday at state testing results. At Tuesday night’s meeting, Assistant Superintendent Dr. Misty Swanger presented preliminary state assessment results. Districts around the state received the preliminary results earlier this month. Swanger reminded board members the results were only preliminary. She said the percentages, “change a little bit each year.” Swanger explained that a student could have moved into the district in time for testing, but received a majority of instruction in another district. The Union County Retired Teachers recently announced the winners of the organization’s 2019 scholarships. The annual awards are only open to students residing in Union County and choosing majors in college that lead to licensure in teaching. Each student received $1,000 to use towards college expenses.
