Three people injured in U.S. 42 crash involving pair of semis

Three people were injured in a three-vehicle crash involving two semi-trucks and a passenger van at the intersection of U.S. 42 and Harriott Road in Jerome Township on Friday morning. The collision occurred when a Chrysler Pacifica attempted to cross the highway and was struck by a northbound semi, triggering a secondary crash with a southbound truck. All drivers were hospitalized and the investigation is ongoing. (Photo submitted)

During a tour of Jerome Fire Department’s Station 210 Wednesday, Chief Doug Stewart pointed out some of the concerns that the department has faced with the station – from storage and training space concerns and a lack of proper decontamination areas to more rooted issues such as the station not being up to fire code and lacking fire suppression systems. As part of action at the Jerome Township Trustees meeting on Tuesday, the station will host an open house on May 17 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. to inform the public about plans to place the fire levy on the November ballot along with a survey to allow for community input on the options.
