Jerome eyes rebuild of station

During a tour of Jerome Fire Department’s Station 210 Wednesday, Chief Doug Stewart pointed out some of the concerns that the department has faced with the station – from storage and training space concerns and a lack of proper decontamination areas to more rooted issues such as the station not being up to fire code and lacking fire suppression systems. As part of action at the Jerome Township Trustees meeting on Tuesday, the station will host an open house on May 17 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. to inform the public about plans to place the fire levy on the November ballot along with a survey to allow for community input on the options. Workers take in smoke in Amazon site fire

The Amazon data center at 8565 Industrial Parkway, which is currently under construction in Jerome Township, suffered smoke damage after a fire occurred in an HVAC unit inside of the building. Officials are still investigating the cause and extent of the damage. Five injuries caused by smoke inhalation were reported and one individual was transported to OSU.
