With Thanksgiving concluded and the month of December beginning tomorrow, the thoughts on the minds of many people turn to Christmas. In fact, from all indications, the spirit of the yuletide is already in full swing with decorations lighting up neighborhoods and plenty of advertising for things to buy. Mother Nature has even thrown in a little snow for effect.
It has been called the season of giving stemming all the way back to the birth of Christ, the most wonderful present from God. Also at that time, this desire to give was highlighted by the gifts presented to the infant Jesus by the three Wise Men.
We hope that residents of Marysville and Union County will keep in mind local merchants when shopping for Christmas gifts. These business owners depend on sales at this time of the year for their financial success. Many of them live in the area and so do their employees. They are your neighbors, your friends, and your fellow church and organization members. A strong retail presence in any residential area is vital to its existence as a cohesive all-around town or city. Otherwise, it’s simply a bedroom community with no civic heart or soul.
If what our readers are shopping for is available here, we urge them to buy it here.
Christmas has been called “the most wonderful time of the year,” as the song goes. Help make it so for everyone by buying locally.
