The Union County Retired Teachers recently announced the winners of the organization’s 2019 scholarships. The annual awards are only open to students residing in Union County and choosing majors in college that lead to licensure in teaching. Each student received $1,000 to use towards college expenses. Candidates had to have a high GPA and SAT scores. Pictured above are winners Sarah Harp, left, and Elizabeth Sharrock, right, with chairwoman Florence Allen, center. Joey Robinson also received a scholarship but is not pictured. Harp, who graduated from Jonathan Alder, will be a student at Kent State University. Sharrock, who graduated from Marysville Early College High School, will be a student at Mount Vernon Nazarene University. Robinson, who graduated from Marysville High School, will attend Bowling Green State University.
