Summer parties often need appetizers. Why not try these.
Nuts with curry
1/2 C sugar
1/4 C water
1 can (10 oz.) cashews
2 TBS curry powder
1/2 tsp. ground red pepper (cayenne)
1/2 tsp. crushed red pepper
1/4 C flaked coconut
Heat oven to 300 degrees. Bring sugar and water to boil in small saucepan on medium-high heat; simmer on medium heat 4 to 5 min. or until sugar is dissolved and thickened to syrup-like consistency. Add nuts, seasonings and coconut; cook and stir 2 min. or until nuts are well coated. Remove from heat; spread onto baking sheet sprayed with cooking spray. Bake 20 min., turning nuts after 10 min. Cool completely. Serve or store in covered container.
1 pkg. (10 oz.) frozen chopped spinach, thawed, well-drained
1/2 C shredded Mozzarella cheese
1/3 C grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 C chive & onion cream cheese spread
1 egg, separated
1 can (8 oz.) refrigerated crescent dinner rolls
Heat oven to 375 degrees. Mix first 4 ingredients and egg yolk until blended. Separate crescent dough into 8 triangles. Cut each triangle diagonally in half. Spoon 1 TBS spinach mixture onto center of each triangle. Bring corners of dough to center over filling, overlapping ends; pinch ends together to seal. Place on baking sheets. Beat egg white lightly; brush onto bundles. Bake 12 to 15 min. or until golden brown.
Hot crab dip
4 oz. (1/2 of 8-oz. pkg.) cream cheese, softened
1/4 C sour cream
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp. dry mustard
1/8 tsp. seafood seasoning
1/8 tsp. garlic powder
few dashes hot pepper sauce
3 green onions, chopped, divided
1 can (6 oz.) crabmeat, drained, flaked
3/4 C shredded triple cheddar cheese with a Touch of Philadelphia, divided
Beat first 7 ingredients in medium bowl with mixer until blended.
Reserve 1 tsp. onions. Add remaining onions, crabmeat and 1/2 cup shredded cheese to cream cheese mixture; mix well. Spoon into microwaveable bowl. Microwave on high 3 min. or until heated through, stirring after 1-1/2 min. Top with remaining shredded cheese and reserved onions. Serve with crackers.
Thought – When you pray for others, God listens to you and blesses them, and sometimes when you are safe and happy, remember that someone has prayed for you.
