Dear Editor,
Last weekend was a special time for the Marysville Middle School wrestling teams in state competition.
They won 24 matches and saw four student athletes climb the podium as All Ohio wrestlers. The significant fact in this competition was that it was the best of all schools in divisions I, II and III.
Ten boys and three girls qualified for the meet by placing in one of the six districts around the state. It was a spectacular moment for this old coach to see the growth of these boys and girls as they begin the transition into young men and women.
Taking the bull by the horn and being willing to seek perfection, spending as much as four hours of extra practice time beyond the team’s 1 1/2 hour practice two to three times per week was part of the reason for their success. The team placed in the top 20 teams out of a possible 600 teams represented.
I am so proud to be a tiny part of this moment in time.
