Dear Editor,
I’m writing regarding Aaron Carpenter and calls for removing him from his position on city council.
I don’t understand the reasoning for this.
He went to a mostly peaceful rally at the White House on Jan. 6. He condemned the violence that erupted. My question is this – where do we draw the line? Anytime someone is elected by the people to serve are there going to be demands for their removal if they have a different view?
The assault on our Capitol was wrong. But did we see that kind of outrage as rioters and looters were burning down businesses, attacking police officers and assaulting Trump supporters? No.
We had members of the news media standing in front of burning buildings saying the protests were “mostly peaceful.”
The double standard is sickening. The big tech companies are doing all they can to silence conservatives.
This is not the America I grew up in. We were able to disagree and both sides heard.
All I can do is pray for our Country. God is in control and I have faith he will not allow our great nation to be destroyed.
