Dear Editor,
It is so disappointing. And it’s embarrassing. For months now, the American flags flying at the courthouse/justice center/veterans’ memorial have been unlit at night. I have called every office that I could think of, but nothing has been done to rectify the situation. I had sincerely hoped, that when Veterans Day was observed, a new and improved lighting system would be unveiled. Instead, the flags still hang in the dark. It is ridiculous and unacceptable. If the county is not going to fix the spotlights, the flags should be taken down every day at dusk. Flag etiquette is very clear on the issue, and I don’t understand why this allowed to continue.
