Dear Editor,
I’d like to express my dismay and disapproval of the Marysville Public Library’s display in support of “Pride” month and its participation in the related events.
As a lifelong resident of the area, it is disturbing to witness the precipitous decline in moral standards of the community, especially when it comes to tax-payer-funded facilities. Shouldn’t we, as citizens, have a say in whether these books are prominently displayed in the children’s section – or whether they are purchased at all using our taxes.
What two consenting adults do in private is of minimal concern to me, but forcing the LGBT agenda onto children is another matter. Young people should not be exposed to lifestyles, behaviors and images they don’t have the maturity to understand or ability to process.
The Bible has a lot to say about pride – and none of it is positive.
When pride comes, disgrace follows. Proverbs 11:2
God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble. James 4:6
Everyone who is proud in heart is detestable to the Lord; be assured that he will not go unpunished. Proverbs 16:5
I could go on, but you get the idea. Jesus also had strong words for those who lead little ones astray.
But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea. Matthew 18:6
In years past, I loved taking my daughters to the library, but it is no longer a place I will take my grandchildren.
