Local resident Rich Cencula was honored by the Quilts of Valor organization this weekend. The foundation brings comfort to veterans who were touched by war by giving them hand-made quilts. Cencula, who was in the Navy on the USS Yorktown during the Vietnam War, was nominated by his daughter, Anne, in December. Recently the organization contacted his daughter and set up a surprise presentation this past weekend at Cencula’s business, Minit Lube on North Main Street. Representatives from the foundation visited the shop and his daughter and grandson, Cole, draped the quilt around his shoulders. Above, Cencula is shown with the quilt. The photo below shows a tag sewn into the quilt listing the recipient and quilter. (Photos submitted)
