The City of Marysville has awarded $100,000 in grant funding for four façade and building improvement projects in the Uptown District.
Recipients of the Uptown Façade Improvement Program include:
McCarthy & Cox Retirement and Estate Specialists at $25,000 for window replacement and sidewalk improvements at 127 West Fifth Street and 110 South Court Street.
Route 33 Fitness at $11,175 for painting and landscape improvements.
Red Diamond Restorations at $18,292 for exterior renovations at 121-123 North Main Street, including window and door repair and replacement, painting, installation of awnings, and repair of rear fire escape.
Avalon Uptown Theatre at $45,533 for roof and masonry improvements at 121 South Main Street.
According to the City’s Façade Improvement Committee, which manages the grant program, four applications were received representing a total funding request of $104,467. These four projects represent $439,218 worth of improvements.
“All four property owners completed excellent applications that convinced our committee that these projects would be a fantastic improvement to our Uptown district,” said City Manager Terry Emery. “I would like to thank the property owners who submitted applications this year and also thank the members of the Façade Improvement Committee for their participation.
City Planner Chad Flowers added, “We are highly encouraged by the response this year. As more property owners apply for grants in the future, it only strengthens our belief that Uptown Marysville is moving in the right direction.”
City council approved the Uptown Façade Improvement Program in July to help improve the physical appearance of the Uptown District. Through the program, $100,000 has been set aside for dollar-for-dollar matching grants for eligible commercial projects within the core area of Uptown Marysville.
According Flowers, each project must be completed within 180 days. Upon the completion of the project, recipients can petition the City for reimbursement.
