The community has experienced its second death related to COVID-19.
Union County Health Department Public Information Officer Jennifer Thrush said the deceased individual was a female in the 60-69 years age range, according to information from the Ohio Department of Health.
The first death associated with COVID-19 in a Union County resident was reported by the health department on May 28. The individual was a male also in the 60-69 years age range.
At the time, Union County Health Commissioner Jason Orcena said the county will continue to work toward preventing the loss of life to the coronavirus.
“The health department and our partners will continue to do all we can to help our community slow the spread of the virus,” he said.
“Every person, every family, in Union County is important to us,” Orcena added.
ODH reported 430 cumulative cases of COVID-19, as of Friday. The local health department, however, does not include cases reported among persons living at the Ohio Reformatory for Women, and listed 353 cases.
Of those reported by UCHD, 322 individuals have been released from isolation and 29 are actively ill.
One individual is currently hospitalized, while 22 cases have required hospitalization.
