The Bunsold After School Enrichment (BASE) Program, funded by the ODE 21st Century Learning Center Grant, has 12 3-D printers that students are using to create masks which are being offered to local citizens for free. The masks, designed by Rowan University, are comprised of a plastic frame with a filter system that uses ordinary, replaceable shop towels. A mask prototype was submitted to the Union County Health Department and the design was approved for distribution. Students and staff, working from home, will make 50 masks at a time and residents may sign up on the program’s Facebook page to receive one. The masks can be picked up at designated times or they can be delivered for a fee.
