Eyes of Freedom on display locally

Corporal Mike Strahle hangs dog tags on a plaque at the traveling Eyes of Freedom memorial Friday afternoon. The memorial will be open to the public at the local Ohio National Guard Armory from noon to 8 p.m. every day through Monday. It’s made up of paintings depicting members of Lima Company who died in the line of duty during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Strahle, who manages the memorial, said the dog tags give people something to interact with. He said dog tags are a significant symbol of the U.S. military and attendees often touch them. “This gets them interacting with it,” Strahle said. He added that the goal of the traveling memorial is to instill pride in members of the public.
