Fairbanks High School hosted its 2020-21 High School Awards Ceremony today.
Ellee Bouic was named Valedictorian while Shelby Jones is Salutatorian.
Bouic is the daughter of Dan and Ashlee Bouic of Ostrander.
Throughout high school she has served as treasurer of student council and has been involved with National Honor Society, Science Club, basketball, and softball. She is the secretary of her 4-H club, a member of the Union County Junior Fair Board and has volunteered as a 4-H Camp counselor. She is a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
Next year, she will attend The Ohio State University to major in psychology on the pre-medicine track and participate in the Biological Sciences Scholars program.
Shelby Jones is the daughter of Byron and Rachel Jones of Milford Center.
Throughout high school she has been involved in National Honor Society, varsity girls golf, and FCCLA, where she competed at the national level. She has danced for 15 years in various styles with her favorites being ballet and tap. She has served as president of the Kind Hearted 4-H club for several years and is the current secretary. She participated in the Zoo School program at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium for two years during which she conducted a research study, wrote a formal thesis, and interned in the Animal Encounters Village region at the zoo. She will continue working as a seasonal zookeeper this summer.
She will be attending Kenyon College in the fall where she plans to double major in biology and neuroscience with the ultimate goal of becoming a veterinary neurologist.
