The Fairbanks High School Class of 2020 celebrated with a drive-thru graduation ceremony Saturday.
The class included seven Valedictorians and one Salutatorian.
Valedictorians:
– Sarah Belmonte is the daughter of Tim and Chelle Belmonte of Marysville. She has been involved in varsity soccer, National Honor Society, Science Club, Mock Trial, Powerlifting and is the president of Interact Club. She is active in 4-H and is employed at Kroger. She will attend The Ohio State University and major in animal sciences on the pre-vet track, in the Honors program.
– Adeline Fitzwater is the daughter of Robert and Julia Fitzwater of Marysville. She is a three-year varsity letterman and team captain in cross country and a four-year letterman in track and field. She is the vice president of National Honor Society and the secretary of FCCLA. She also participates in Science Club, Writing Club and is a three-year member of the Mock Trial team. She was named a National Merit Finalist. She will dual major in history and philosophy at Ohio University’s Honors Tutorial College.
– Kalor Greve is the daughter of Chad and Laura Greve of Marysville. She was the captain of the state-qualifying cross country team, captain of the varsity basketball cheerleading squad and ran indoor and outdoor track. She was the field commander of the marching band, participated in concert band and served as National Honor Society secretary. Outside of school, she volunteered at Memorial Hospital as a nursing assistant, taught Sunday school at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and was a member of the Union County Junior Fair Board and Stirrup Some Fun 4-H club. She is currently employed at Oakland Nursery. She is admitted to the Honors College at Ohio University and will be majoring in pre-medicine cellular and molecular biology.
– Sarah LaPointe is the daughter of Philip and Amy LaPointe of Marysville. She was a varsity football cheerleader, president of FCCLA, president of National Honor Society and a member of mock trial and science club. She is a volunteer at Memorial Hospital, is employed at Lambert Jewelers and is a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. She plans to attend Williams Honors College at the University of Akron.
– Cole Shepherd is the son of Del and Kris Shepherd of Marysville. He is the president of Student Council, treasurer of National Honor Society and has been involved with football, powerlifting, Interact Club, Ski Club, Mock Trial and Science Club. He was named a National Merit Commended Scholar and attended American Legion Buckeye Boys State. He volunteers with the Union County Humane Society and the Whitehall Fire Department. He is a member of his church’s youth group and is employed at Dairy Queen. He will be attending Duke University and will major in mechanical engineering.
– Abigail Underhill is the daughter of Timothy and Angela Underhill of Plain City. Throughout high school, she has been involved in FFA, Science Club, National Honor Society, Mock Trial and served as the vice president for FCCLA. Within FFA, she served as the vice president and competed in job interview, advanced parliamentary procedure and general livestock judging. She is involved in Darby Clovers 4-H club where she raises dairy feeders, goats, chickens and turkeys. She is a 4-H camp counselor and is the president of the Jr. Fair Board. She is employed at Yutzy’s Farm Market and Plain City Animal Hospital. She plans to attend the University of Findlay to major in animal science/pre-veterinary.
– Savannah Walls is the daughter of Donn and Angie Walls of Milford Center. Throughout high school, she has served as president of the FFA, president of her 4-H club, vice president of Student Council, treasurer of Interact Club and is four-year class officer. She has also participated in FCCLA, National Honor Society, Mock Trial and Science Club. She is employed at Whit’s Frozen Custard in Marysville. She plans to attend Miami University to double major in strategic communication and public administration.
Salutatorian:
– David Montgomery is the son of Tom and Donna Montgomery of Plain City. During high school, he has participated in Drama Club, Science Club, National Honor Society, Pep Band, Concert Band and Marching Band. He has been active in his church, Jerome United Methodist Church, helping with Vacation Bible School, children’s worship and the Jerome Youth Band. He plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree in music education at Otterbein University.
