Falling fuel prices

Around Marysville, gas prices dipped below $1.90 per gallon for the first time in years Friday. According to gas pricing information, most gasoline in Union County hovered between $1.90 and $2 per gallon, but was continuing to trend cheaper. Shown at right, the Marathon station at the corner of East Fifth and Walnut streets, gasoline was $1.88 per gallon late Friday afternoon. Demand for gas traditionally goes down in the fall due to lower driving demand and the switchover to winter-blend gasoline. But continued unplanned outages associated with seasonal refinery maintenance could create volatility in some parts of the country.
