Additional food boxes are available, as is fresh produce, for those picking up at the Community and Seasoned Citizens Center on Friday.
This is the 14th year of Community and Seasoned Citizens (CASC) are administering and distributing the Union County Senior Citizens Food Commodity Box. The 30-pound box consists of two half gallons of juice, two boxes of cereal, shelf safe milk, pasta, canned meats or pasta sauce, two cans of fruits packed in their own juice and two cans of vegetables along with a two-pound box of processed cheese.
There are currently several openings for those who qualify as follows: 60 years of age, a resident of Union County and income guidelines of $1,473 for a household of one and $1,984 for a household of two. Larger households will see the income limit grow accordingly.
These boxes are delivered by Mid-Ohio Food Bank to the center at 900 Columbus Ave. on the fourth Friday of each month. Those receiving boxes will also be able to get a bag of fresh produce.
Under certain circumstances, the group will make delivery service available when there is no other option. You do not need to bring proof of income as it is not required for this program.
