The Union County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society will talk about research in newspapers in meeting room B of the Marysville Public Library at 10 a.m. April 21.
The guest speaker for this meeting will be Deborah A. Carder Mayes, and she will give a presentation called “Grandpas in Newspapers,” which will be about conducting research in newspapers.
Mayes is a genealogical research volunteer at the Delphos Public Library and the Historical Society in Allen County, Ohio. She’s started looking into genealogy when she began looking up her family’s history 16 years ago.
She focuses her research primarily in West Central Ohio and the Miami Valley, but has done research into other Ohio counties and 17 other states. She has ancestors in Union County.
She has been presenting programs and workshops since 2004. She has spoken at various genealogical and historical societies, including the 2012 Ohio Genealogical Society Conference.
The public is welcome to attend the presentation. The library is located at 231 S. Plum St., Marysville.
