J-T delivery driver is good samaritan

On March 29, Marysville Journal-Tribune motor route driver Paula Planck was delivering newspapers, as she has done for 18 years, when she heard a faint voice calling out in the area of Boerger Road. She initially thought the voice could have been from children in the area, but then saw Emma Nicol laying near the threshold of her garage. Planck went to assist Nicol, who had fallen an hour earlier, and called for medical assistance. The timely action by Planck is being credited as playing a direct roll in Nicol’s recovery. “I’m just thankful God put me in the right place at the right time so I could have the privilege of helping this sweet lady,” Planck said. Nicol celebrated her birthday Friday and decided to use her occupational therapy time at Memorial Gables to continue a beloved spring tradition – baking a rhubarb custard pie. This year Nicol decided that the pie should go to Planck, her “good samaritan.” Shown above, Nicol, right, presents the pie to Planck.
