Jerome Township officials are offering residents a few more opportunities to learn about the fire levy before heading to the polls.
Jerome Township Fire Chief Douglas Stewart is hosting several fire levy town hall meetings before Election Day, Nov. 3.
Residents interested in learning more will have the option to attend in-person or virtual meetings. The first virtual town hall will be held tonight from 7-8 p.m. There will be another on Monday, Nov. 2, also from 7-8 p.m.
Those interested in attending should email Stewart at dstewart@jerometownship.com for log-in instructions.
There will also be an in-person town hall at the Jerome Township Fire Station, 9689 U.S. 42, from 3-4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1.
Voters will see a renewal of the 2011 2.9 mill levy with an additional 2.9 mill fire/EMS operations levy on the November ballot.
The renewal levy is not a new tax, but will continue to collect at its current rate of 2.09 mills.
The additional 2.9-mill levy will result in an increased rate of approximately $100 per $100,000 of home value per year.
Stewart has repeatedly noted that the funds will not be used to create a new fire station, but to fund operations – namely personnel.
The fire chief encouraged any residents with questions to contact him via email or by calling (614) 873-8990.
