The Marysville Public Library is bringing interactive, museum-quality exhibits to the library in an effort to inspire wonder and learning for all ages.
The Traveling Museum Exhibits feature six different “natural wonders” themes focusing on biodiversity and science. Each themed exhibit will be on display at the library bimonthly in 2022.
This year’s exhibit themes include:
– Skeletons;
– Masters of Disguise;
– Creatures of the Night;
– Dragons;
– Extraordinary Eggs;
– In Living Color;
– Preserving Specimens.
The Traveling Museum Exhibit project was created through a partnership between The Ohio State University’s Museum of Biological Diversity (OSUMBD) and the Grandview Heights Public Library (GHPL).
The exhibits “combine wonder, engagement and learning with all-in-one, interactive mobile kiosks for all ages,” according to a statement from MPL.
The displays feature artifacts and specimens; engaging, educational visuals; craft tables with a family activity and books for loan through the library.
The exhibits also support Ohio’s Learning Standards from the Ohio Department of Education for students in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade by promoting STEM learning.
Ohio libraries participating in the exhibit project have included: Alexandria Public Library, Fairfield County District Library, Grandview Heights Public Library, Granville Public Library, London Public Library, Pickaway County District Public Library and Upper Arlington Public Library. The libraries are part of the Central Library Consortium, 17 central Ohio library systems sharing resources to offer 67 million items to their cardholders.
