A Marysville man was taken to Riverside Memorial Hospital in critical condition after a crash on U.S. 42 south of Hickory Ridge Road Monday.
According to Ohio State Highway Patrol reports, at about 9:32 p.m. a southbound 2000 Chevy Express driven by Mark Edmonds, 29, was attempting to pass a semi that was in the middle of turning. He nearly hit another vehicle in the northbound lane before veering off the right side of the road hitting a utility pole.
Edmonds was taken to the hospital by Jerome Township EMS. According to officials, he was still in surgery as of about 5 a.m. today.
According to reports, he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Officials said they were unsure if alcohol played a part in the crash. An investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol is ongoing.
According to a Nixle alert, the road was closed off at about 9:39 p.m. and reopened at about 2:30 a.m.
