Union County was represented at an event in Columbus Thursday where Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced his support for new legislation that makes distracted driving a primary offense, meaning it could lead to a traffic stop. Union County Emergency Management Agency Director Brad Gilbert can be seen above in the second row directly behind DeWine and Union County Sheriff Jamie Patton can be seen three spots to the left of Gilbert. The bipartisan bill in the Ohio Senate addresses writing, sending or looking at texts, watching or recording photos or videos, or livestreaming while handling an electronic device, among other activities.
