A Westerville man was cited for OVI and possession of drug paraphernalia after he ran his car off a road and onto train tracks this weekend.
Troopers received calls of a 2017 Toyota Camry stuck on railroad tracks on Johnson Road near Darby Pottersburg Road Saturday at 1:56 a.m. According to Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Sgt. J.D. Allen, the vehicle had veered off the “paved portion” of the road.
After further investigation, the driver, David Benson, 71, of Westerville, was cited for OVI and possession of drug paraphernalia in the form of pipe. Allen was unsure of what the pipe was intended for, and said it had been sent in for analysis.
Union County Sheriff’s Office deputies also responded to the scene. The vehicle was safely towed off the tracks and away from the scene.
Allen said Benson refused treatment.
