The Marysville Choral Boosters will host the annual Marysville Showcase Show Choir Invitational at Marysville High School on Friday and Saturday.
Six middle school choirs and 19 high school choirs from all over the Midwest will travel to MHS to compete.
The middle school competition will be held on Friday evening beginning at 7 p.m. The Bunsold Mini Swingers will perform an exhibition show prior to the announcement of the Middle School Grand Champion.
Nineteen high school choirs will compete in a preliminary competition beginning at 8 a.m. and concluding with daytime awards at 6:45 p.m. on Saturday. Each group will be evaluated by five adjudicators who have extensive backgrounds in the performing arts.
The schools with the top six scores will move on to the evening finals which begin at 8 p.m. The Marysville Swingers Unlimited will perform an exhibition show during the evening finals, prior to the announcement of the Showcase Grand Champion.
The Marysville Swingers Unlimited Show Choir will travel to seven competitions in 2020 including: Bishop Dwenger Summit Show Choir Invitational in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Marion Harding Singsational, Pike MusicFest in Indianapolis, Olentangy Keynote Classic, Grove City Voices in the Grove, Lebanon Show Choir Classic, and Show Choir Select in St. Louis, Missouri.
Last season, the group earned several grand championships and caption awards such as Best Vocals, Best Choreography, Best Band, Best Costumes and Best Show Concept. The group is under the direction of Jeremy Alfera, who is assisted by Austin Syar. The instrumental combo is directed by Justin Stahl. Choreographers include Randy Sage, Ellie Jordan and Dwight Jordan.
The Bunsold Mini Swingers will compete at the Marion Harding Singsational, Olentangy Keynote Classic, Grove City Voices in the Grove, and Lebanon Show Choir Classic. They opened up their competition season this past weekend at Beavercreek and brought home the first runner up and best costumes trophies.
The Mini Swingers are directed by Emily Campbell and assistant director is Liz Hammond. The show is choreographed by Sammy Williams.
