Marysville School officials said an incident involving a bullet did not pose a threat to student or staff safety.
Marysville High School Principal Thomas R. Cochran said that as students were in the hallway, changing classes, a student noticed a .22-caliber bullet laying on the floor in the hall.
“The student picked it up and immediately notified a teacher, who then notified administration,” Cochran wrote in a statement to parents and the community.
Cochran said that as part of the school’s safety plan, administrators, “immediately worked with our school resource officer (SRO) and the Marysville Police Department to investigate the situation.”
He said school and law enforcement officials quickly decided the bullet did not pose a “specific threat to student and staff safety.” Officials determined a school lock down was “not necessary.”
Cochran commended the student and staff member who made the administrative team aware of the situation.
“We all have a personal responsibility when it comes to student safety,” Cochran wrote in his statement. “When students come forward and share information, we can work together to maintain a high level of safety for all students.”
