This past weekend was filled with youth outdoor education in Marysville. The city’s Passport to Fishing, providing skills, techniques and information to allow beginning anglers to start fishing, was held Saturday at Aldersgate Park. Participants completed four stations, fishing knots and rigging, fish habitat and handling, casting and local information, and were then allowed to apply what they learned by fishing in the Aldersgate Park ponds. On Sunday the annual Adventures at Aldersgate Park was held, in which participants learned to use kayaks, were taught small watercraft safety and instructed on fishing basics. Above, Cassie Todd, left, and Kennedy Wirth, right, with the city’s Parks and Recreation Department, work Friday to organize and assemble fishing poles and tackle boxes for the weekend events.
