A man found dead at his residence on Village Drive this week has spurred a death investigation by state and local authorities.
Marysville Police received a report of a dead male on Village Drive Tuesday at about 11:39 a.m. According to a release from the Marysville Police Department, the family said man “had not been seen for several days and they could not reach him by phone.”
The family directed them upstairs, where they found Michael Nixon, 56. Personnel from the Marysville Fire Department arrived and confirmed that Nixon had died.
Marysville Police and the Union County Coroner’s office were both called to the scene. Coroner David Applegate said the scene was “a little bit unusual,” but could not go into specifics.
He said at the moment, it’s simply unclear what caused Nixon’s death.
“It’s not obvious what this guy died from,” he said. “We’re not at this point thinking it’s an overdose, but frankly we don’t know.”
The Marysville Police Department couldn’t be reached for comment by press time.
Additionally, the release states that local authorities have requested assistance from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations and Identification (BCI&I) for the investigation. An autopsy is being conducted by the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office and Applegate said a preliminary result is expected later today.
If the autopsy doesn’t yield definitive results, authorities will conduct a toxicology test.
