A Raymond man is dead after a single-vehicle crash early this morning in Logan County.
According to a release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crashed happened at about 12:47 a.m. on County Road 153 east of Township Road 145 in Jefferson Township. Austin K. Elson, 19, of Raymond, was driving a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta northwest.
“While negotiating a curve, Mr. Elson traveled left of center before traveling off the south side of the roadway,” reads the release. “The Jetta struck the face of a guardrail.”
Elson was pronounced dead at the scene, and was reportedly not using a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
According to OSP Sgt. Stacy Stidham, the crash is still under investigation. She said she hopes authorities will know more, “soon enough.”
“There’s a lot of pieces that still need to be put together,” she said.
Perry Township Fire and Tri-Valley Fire and EMS assisted at the scene.
