The Union County Retired Teachers recently announced the winners of the organization’s 2018 scholarships. The annual awards are only open to students residing in Union County and choosing majors in college that lead to licensure in teaching. Each student receives $1,000 to use towards college expenses. Candidates had to have a high GPA and SAT scores. Pictured above are winners, from left to right, Sophia Thomas, Mackensie Murray and Olivia Martin. Thomas, who graduated from Jonathan Alder High School, will be a student at Urbana University. Murray will be a third year student at Bowling Green University this fall. Martin, who just graduated from Marysville High School, will attend Bowling Green University.
