Randy C. Mayabb, of London, was rescued this morning after the semi truck he was driving crashed into the pond at Evolution Ag in Jerome Township. According to a release from the Union County Sheriff’s Office, Mayabb was driving a 2007 Kenworth north on U.S. 42 about 6 a.m. today. At the same time, Chad R. Carr of Dublin, was driving a 2013 Ford F-150 pick-up truck west on Jerome Road. The preliminary investigation revealed Carr’s truck, left, did not yield at the intersection stop sign. Investigators said the semi hit the pick-up, then went off the road and into the retention pond where it became submerged, above. Mayabb crawled out the window and onto the top of the semi. Both Mayabb and Carr were taken to Dublin Methodist Hospital. The semi began to leak diesel fuel into the retention pond and the Union County Emergency Management Agency and the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency were called to the scene. Route 42 was closed for nearly two and a half hours while the crash scene was cleared. Officials said the crash remains under investigation.
