Roads were closed, trees poles and homes were damaged and power was out in portions of northern Union County after a severe thunderstorm moved through the area Tuesday evening. Officials said they believe straight line winds broke 10 large transmission line poles (left photo) on Route 37, between Richwood and Essex. Officials said additional power poles were damaged throughout the area. Ohio Edison estimated the damage took out power for 1,200 residents. Crews worked to re-route power to the village by midnight. At the right, a mobile home on Rushsylvania Road was destroyed. Officials said they believe there was no one in the home at the time. The Red Cross was contacted to possible assist with potential concerns in the area.
