The Jerome Township Fire Department and deputies from the Union County Sheriff’s Office responded to a train accident at 9640 Crottinger Road on Monday about 10:10 a.m. involving a train and a 2014 New Holland tractor pulling two gravity wagons carrying soybeans. The tractor with the gravity wagons was reportedly coming across a private driveway on Crottinger Road. The train, traveling northwest to southeast at an estimated 40 mph, struck the second wagon. Tom Morgan, chief deputy of the Union County Sheriff’s Office, said the train had 28 cars. No injuries were reported.
