Triad is hard at work this summer as it continues to make building improvements across the district.
All but seven windows are completed at the elementary and middle schools. Superintendent Chris Piper said the entire project, including trim work and caulking, should be done by the end of the month.
“(The windows) look great in both buildings and have made a big difference in the classrooms, much brighter,” Piper said.
The board authorized payments of $26,025 for roof repairs to Harold J. Becker Company and payments of $27,020 to Tecta America Zero Co., LLC. Most of the repairs were to the elementary and middle school roofs with one small repair at the high school. In addition, the board approved work on the high school water pump systems by Eaton Well and Pump in the amount of $45,650.
Triad has entered into a 10-year service agreement with Energy Optimizers, USA, LLC for the lighting upgrade which will include energy saving motion sensors. The district will upgrade all internal and external lighting and fixtures to LEDs.
It’s estimated the energy efficiency improvements and related on going services will cost around $378,560. The program includes service with no-interest financing.
Treasurer Connie Cohn suggested the board could consider creating a permanent improvement fund separate from the general fund. Cohn said it would allow the district’s financial plan to coincide with the long-term facility improvement plan. She explained this would be helpful for accounting purposes and ensure that the facility improvement plan was executed. Cohn said some districts approved to move a certain dollar amount if available to the permanent improvement at the end of each year. In the event the money would need to be accessed, the board could move it back to the general fund by resolution.
The next regular board meeting will be Aug. 17 at 7 p.m. in the board room modular.
