U.S 42 south of Crottinger Road in Jerome Township was closed multiple times this morning following a semi crash. Shortly before 6 a.m. today, a Freightliner semi-truck was traveling north on U.S. 42. The truck went off the right side of the road, into a ditch, and then overturned in a cornfield. Traffic was closed in both directions while the crash was investigated. Deputies from the Union County Sheriff’s Office were eventually able to reopen one lane and direct traffic until a wrecker came about 7:15 to move the truck. At that point, the road was again closed. No additional information was available at press time.
