Two killed in Route 31 crash

A man and woman are dead following a three-car crash in northern Union County on Wednesday.
Conner Miller, 20, of Mount Victory, and Michael Musser, 59, of Lima, were pronounced dead at the scene of a crash on Route 31 in Washington Township Wednesday afternoon.
According to a release from the Marysville post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, at about 4:25 p.m. Wednesday, Miller was driving a 2000 Nissan Altima south on Route 31 near milepost 20.
Miller went left of center and into the northbound lane.
“Why she went left of center is still part of the investigation,” said an OSP spokesperson who refused to give her name.
According to the release, Miller’s vehicle “sideswiped” a 2018 Ford F-150, driven by Melissa Hougendobler, 44, of Kenton.
Miller continued in the southbound lane and eventually hit a 2015 Jeep Compass, driven by Musser.
According to the release from OSP, neither Miller nor Musser were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
Hougendobler was transported to Hardin County Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
According to an OSP spokesperson, “the crash remains under investigation.”
“As far as alcohol or drugs, that portion is still under investigation,” said the OSP spokesperson.
She said speed does not appear to be contributing factor to the crash.
Officials said more information will be available as they receive details.
The initial call was to Southeast Hardin Northwest Union Joint Fire District and EMS.
Route 31, between Rushsylvania Road and the Hardin County line was closed for a period of time following the crash.
Mutual aid was provided by Liberty Township EMS, Battalion Chief from Marysville, Hardin and the Union County Sheriff’s Office.
