Anyone in Union County wanting a COVID-19 vaccine can now get the shot without an appointment.
The Union County Health Department is accepting walk-ins for first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, administered at the Union County Fairgrounds.
The shots are given in a drive-thru format and do not require residents to get out of their car. Most appointments take approximately 20 minutes.
UCHD is using the Pfizer vaccine, which requires two doses, 21 days apart.
It can be given to anyone 16 years of age or older. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
Walk-ins are available from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday, May 1; 4:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 4; 12:30-3:30 p.m. Thursday, May 6 and 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Friday, May 7.
UCHD officials encouraged those who are able to make an appointment to schedule online at www.uchdclinic.org for a faster visit.
As the mass vaccination site at the fairgrounds begins to wrap up, the health department will also be offering mobile clinics throughout the county.
The smaller, mobile sites will provide the single-dose Johnson and Johnson vaccine.
UCHD hosted clinics this morning at the Allen Township Community Center, Decker Fire Station and Jerome Township Fire Department.
Shots will be available at Pastime Park in Plain City from 10 a.m.-noon Friday, May 7.
Public Information Officer Jennifer Thrush said the health department is planning more satellite clinics along Industrial Parkway and at the Northern Union County Fire Department.
Honda of America is also hosting a satellite shot clinic at the Watson Wellness Center, 24000 Honda Parkway, from 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday. The clinic is open to the public.
Pfizer shots will be administered by Mercy Health, not the local health department. Appointments for the second dose will be scheduled at the time of the first shot.
Those interested in scheduling an appointment at Honda should visit https://gettheshot.coronavirus.ohio.gov/ and select “Marysville – Watson Wellness Center” under the location prompt.
