Plain City officials are saying the village water is safe to drink as they continue to investigate a complaint about discolored water.
Tuesday evening, the village water department received a complain that water was brown.
Water department officials began looking for a problem at the water plant, then for a leak somewhere in the system.
Mayor Darrin Lane said police and crews from the street and water departments worked through the night to diagnose the problem.
“The village has determined that there did not seem to be a water break,” according to a release issued today.
According to the release the discoloration was “most likely” due to what was termed “a slight drop then a bounce back in water pressure” which results in sediment being released.
Officials said there is no need to boil water and “although the darkened water may be unattractive, it is not harmful.”
Residents are asked to contact the Plain City Police department at (614) 873-2921 if they experience “significant changes in water pressure or coloration.”
Village officials said they would work to provide updates to residents as information becomes available.
