A Marysville woman died in a car crash Tuesday night.
According to the Marysville Division of Police (MPD), a red 2011 Chevy Cruze, driven by Gabrielle E. Martin, 20, of Marysville, struck a bridge support on Raymond Road, at the U.S. 33 overpass, at 6:56 p.m. Tuesday. The vehicle sustained heavy left-front damage and the driver’s compartment was severely compacted.
According to an email from MPD Deputy Police Chief Tony Brooks, the speed Martin was traveling at was “likely a high rate of speed.” The email also states there was “no indication” alcohol or drugs were factors.
Marysville officers, along with units from the Marysville Fire Division, checked Martin’s condition, but she was found to be deceased. The driver was the only occupant of the vehicle at the time of the crash.
According to investigators from the Union County Coroner’s Office and Multi-County Crash Investigation Team who were also at the scene, the vehicle was traveling northbound on Raymond Road when it went off the right side of the roadway. It traveled a short distance and struck the concrete bridge support.
The body was transported to the Montgomery County Morgue for autopsy.
The crash is still under investigation by the Marysville Division of Police and the Union County coroner’s office. The Union County EMA also assisted at the scene.
