Beatrice Ruth Short, 89, of West Mansfield, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2018, at Heartland of Bellefontaine.
A loving homemaker, she was employed in the dietary department at Memorial Hospital of Union County for 12 years. She also served as a part-time librarian at the West Mansfield Library for 10 years.
She was a faithful member of East Liberty United Methodist Church since 1964 and was an active volunteer for the church food pantry. She formerly held all offices with the United Methodist Women. She was past president and former member of the American Legion Auxiliary #603. She graduated from West Mansfield High School in 1947. She enjoyed collecting toothpick holders and owls, and especially enjoyed reading.
She was born May 2, 1929, in Zanesfield, to the late George and Vena V. LeVan Foreman. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Denver Albert Short, whom she married Dec. 24, 1947, and who died June 7, 1975; son, Jeffrey Lee Short; daughter-in-law, Diane Short; sister, Sandra Hairfield; brothers, George Foreman Jr., Pete Foreman and Terry Foreman; and nephews, William Foreman and Tom Foreman.
She is survived by her sons, Gary Ronald (Amelia) Short of Bellefontaine and Paul Albert (Tami) Short of West Mansfield; sister, Joy Luman of Arp, Texas; brothers, Kenneth (Julia) Foreman of West Mansfield and Lester (Jerri) Foreman of Bellefontaine; grandchildren, Sonya (Todd) Seibert, JoAnna (Jesse) Stewart, Nathan Short, Sean Short, Shane Short, Clint Short, Erin Short, Tammy Lane, Scott (Heather) Lane, Joshua Hurtt, Tiffany, Jordan and Billy Simpkins and Samantha Sellers; great-grandchildren, Jessica Jo and Sidney Stuart, Jimmy and Chelsea Osborne, Tyanna Seibert, Zachary Lemmings, Avery and Aspen Frost, Kenyon (Christina) Ritchie, Chloe, Canon, Scott Jr. and Zayden Lane, Braeden and Brycen Hurtt, Holden and Kellen Woodruff, Shelby and Makenzie Wickline, Grayson Bontjes and Heavenily and Rome Sellers; great-great-grandchildren, Grace and Luna; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends, as well as her church family.
The Rev. Linda Dulin-Moore will officiate funeral services at 11 a.m. Monday at Wilson Funeral Home, Schnurrenberger Chapel, 222 W. Center St., West Mansfield. Burial will take place at Zanesfield Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
