Bobby Gerald “Jerry” Newell, 66, of Sunbury died unexpectedly Sunday, June 21, 2020 at his residence.
He was the owner and operator of Newell’s Lawn Service. He was also a former spotter and security for Nestle and former laborer with Select Sires.
He was born May 14, 1954 in Marysville to the late Lee E. and Betty M. (Kinniard) Newell.
He most enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family, mowing, camping, storytelling, painting anything and tinkering with vehicles. He was proud of his collection of mowers and trucks.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John Newell; uncle, Elmer Newell; and best friends, Jim and Olive Evans.
He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Becky; sons and daughters-in-law, Joey and Amy of Marysville, Jerry and Kim of Milford Center and Tyler and Courtney of Cardington; daughter, Jenny Newell of Marion; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jack and Jennifer, Larry and Annamae, all of Plain City; sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Ronnie Itnyre of Marysville; and grandchildren, Carsen, Dylan, Chloe, Jackson, Orion, Phoenix, Persephone and Wyatt.
A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, June 26, 2020 at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 637 N. State Route 61, at Route 3, Sunbury, where the family will be receiving friends from 5:30 p.m. until the time of service. Pastor Dan Brown will officiate. A private family interment will occur at Green Mound Cemetery in Kilbourne.
