Dennis L. Kasper, 70, of Zanesfield died at 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2019, at Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Columbus on Sept. 29, 1949 to the late Robert “Bob” and Eloise (McAdow) Kasper.
He graduated from Fairbanks High School in 1967. He was a member of the Ohio Army National Guard. He also worked for O.M. Scott and Sons for 30 years. He then started his own company, Athletic Turf Specialties, Inc.
An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed deer, coon, rabbit and squirrel hunting. He also enjoyed arrowhead hunting and fishing, especially ice fishing on his pond.
He raised sheep and chickens. He also participated in the Union County and Worthington farmer’s markets selling his fresh vegetables and flowers from his beautifully maintained garden.
He enjoyed cooking, spending time with his friends and family, and the occasional beer.
He will be remembered for his strong will, hardworking and ornery personality.
On June 4, 2004, he married Shelley (Rupright) Kasper in Bellefontaine and she survives; along with his daughter, Wendy (Zak) Hill and her mother, Denise (Humm) Kasper; stepson David (Angela) Garrison and five grandchildren, Kendall Hill, Kalla Hill, Kase Hill, Isiah Garrison and Grace Garrison.
He is also survived by a nephew, Chad (Wendy) Kasper of Bloomington, Indiana and a niece, Melanie Kasper of Fort Wayne, Indiana; along with other relatives, friends, neighbors and dog, Ellie.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Larry.
Per his request, there will be no public services.
Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to any charity of the donor’s choice.
