Donald D. “Don” Seitz, 76, of Milford Center, died unexpectedly July 4, 2019, at his home.
A life long resident of Milford Center, he graduated from Union Local High School in 1961. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and attended Syracuse University, where he studied Russian Language as part of his service training.
He was incredibly proud to serve two tours from 1962 through 1969, the first in Germany and the second in Japan, for the intelligence community as a Russian interpreter. In later years, he was an active member of the Union County Honor Guard and the VFW Post #3320 in Marysville.
He is a graduate of Urbana University with a degree in history and enjoyed a lengthy career as a computer operator and was retired from the Scott’s Company. He was active with the Boy Scouts of America as a youth and was a leader as an adult.
An avid reader, he enjoyed studing throughout his life and was a well-educated man, taking great pride in his studies.
He was born May 22, 1943, in Milford Center, to the late Irvine and Mary Kauble Seitz. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Richard “Dick” Seitz.
He is survived by his nieces and nephew, Sharon (Robert) Tekulve of Cincinnati, James Seitz of Lebanon, Tennessee, Susan (John) Keilholz of Woodbury, Minnesota, Sandra (James) Gearhart of Edon, and Sally Seitz of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; seven great-nieces and nephews; seven great-great nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Betty Keim of Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
Graveside services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Milford Center Cemetery, with the Rev. Ron Payne officiating, where full military honors will be provided by the Union County Honor Guard.
In his memory, contributions may be made to the Union County Humane Society in care of Ingram Funeral Home, which is handling arrangements.
